focus: social media strategy and management, tour management, community building, event production, brand partnerships
Black Hibiscus is a Brooklyn-based Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer. I joined his team last summer as his social media and marketing manager. I’ve since worked closely with Black Hibiscus and his manager to roll out the launch of his new album GROWING PAINS on social media, generally elevate and stay consistent with his social media presence, assist with content and merch on tour, and support with production of his NYC events.

My role as SMM began with the rollout of Black Hibiscus’s upcoming album GROWING PAINS.
Prior to the album, he released three songs — TENSION, DON’T WANNA MISS U, and FORLÖRN — all accompanied by their own TikTok and Instagram strategy, interwoven with supplemental content from his day to day life.
My responsibilities as SMM include the daily management of his social media — reading and responding to messages, engaging with the community, posting — creating and updating the content calendar, capturing photo and video content, and editing content.

Shortly after I joined the Black Hibiscus team, he was invited to open for two different artists on tour — Bathe and Zach Templar.
The Bathe tour took us to DC, Brooklyn, and Chicago, while the Templar Tour took us to Toronto, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, and Atlanta.
On both tours, I operated the merch table, selling custom Black Hibiscus shirts as well as products from his home goods company, Ameeba Studios.
I also assisted his manager with tour management responsibilities, including booking travel and accommodations in each city, coordinating with venue managers, and working with photographers and press on-site at each show.
Lastly, I captured iPhone and digital camera footage at each show. I edited and posted this footage across Black Hibiscus’s socials.

Alongside our social media and tour strategy, I helped produce multiple events in NYC for Black Hibiscus to promote the release of GROWING PAINS.
The first was a performance at SilkFest, an annual party celebrating Black creatives. I captured content from the performance, sold Ameeba products, and coordinated an interview for social media with a music influencer.
The second was a listening party at B&O following the release of GROWING PAINS. I helped create the invite, curate the guest list, and post content following the event.
